5mm 430 Bright Annealed Wire: Straightness and Coil Set
At 5 mm the problems change. A fine wire can be pulled straight by tension; a coarse wire carries the memory of the coil into the machine. Coil set, cast and straightness decide whether a 5 mm wire feeds cleanly into a bender or has to be straightened twice. Surface condition is the second variable, because a coarse wire is usually a visible part.
This wire is bright annealed and soft at 450-650 N/mm2, supplied in the 0.15-12 mm range with 5 mm as the featured size. Coil set is controlled at rewinding, and straight cut lengths can be supplied where the process calls for them.
It suits decorative frames, grilles, supports and hangers where the wire is visible and has to hold a line rather than spring back.

Applications
Decorative frames and grilles
Visible wire frames where the line has to stay straight between fixing points and the surface has to stay bright.
Supports and hangers
Load-bearing wire parts at 4-12 mm, formed in a bender or press brake and assembled without further straightening.
Straight cut lengths
Pre-cut bars for welding jigs and fixtures, where the wire arrives straight and ready to fit.
Product Advantages
- Coil set controlled at rewinding - a coarse wire that arrives with less memory needs less straightening at the machine.
- Bright annealed surface - no oxide scale, so visible frames do not need pickling or buffing after forming.
- Soft 450-650 N/mm2 - 4-12 mm wire bends without cracking at the outside of the bend.
- Straight cut lengths available - removes the straightening step where the process needs bars rather than coils.
- Nickel-free ferritic grade stated honestly - for dry indoor use; moisture, detergent or chlorides call for 304 or 316L, and welding needs different parameters from an austenitic grade.
- Traceable lots - heat number on every coil label with mill test report 3.1 on request.
Quality Control
Rod grade is verified before drawing. Diameter is measured inline and at coil ends, tensile and elongation are tested per heat per ISO 6892-1, and surface is inspected under standard light for die lines and tone variation. Coil build, cast and packing are checked before dispatch.
Selection and Ordering Notes
- Say whether you take coil or straight lengths, and the length tolerance needed.
- State the forming method and bend radius for the 4-12 mm range.
- Confirm the service environment: dry indoor for 430, wet or chloride exposure for 304 or 316L.
- Give coil weight and inner diameter if coil supply is used.
- Provide sizes and annual volume for a tolerance and packing review.
