Soft Annealed Stainless Steel Wire for Cold Forming, 0.15-12 mm
Cold forming shops care about two numbers on a soft annealed wire: how much force the part needs at the bend, and how much that force moves from coil to coil. A wire that is soft on Monday and half work-hardened on Friday changes press settings and scrap rate together.
This wire is annealed after drawing to a tensile of 550-750 N/mm2 and supplied from 0.15 mm to 12 mm in 304 or 316L on request. Bright drawn, bright annealed and soap-coated finishes are available, and the temper is held inside one band for the whole order rather than quoted per coil.
It suits multi-slide forming, CNC wire bending, stamping blanks and general fabrication where a low yield point and repeatable spring-back are needed.

Applications
Multi-slide and CNC wire forming
Formed clips, brackets, pins and wire frames. A single tensile band keeps spring-back and tool compensation stable across a production run.
Stamping and blanking
Flattened and stamped parts where the wire is deformed in one pass and edge cracking has to be avoided.
General fabrication and welding
Cut, bent and welded assemblies in 304, with 316L quoted where chlorides are present.
Product Advantages
- One tensile band per order - 550-750 N/mm2 agreed at order stage and held across coils, so tool settings are set once.
- Low yield point - the annealed structure keeps forming force low, which reduces tool wear on multi-slide machines.
- Full size coverage - 0.15-12 mm from one line, sharing the same temper basis across sizes.
- Surface options - bright drawn for visible parts, soap-coated where the wire passes through guides and dies.
- Grade choice stated clearly - 304 for general service, 316L where chlorides or marine exposure apply.
- Traceable lots - heat number on every coil label with mill test report 3.1 on request.
Quality Control
Rod grade is verified before drawing, diameter is measured inline with end-of-coil sampling, and tensile and elongation are tested per heat per ISO 6892-1. Surface, coil build and packing are inspected before the pallet is closed.
Selection and Ordering Notes
- State the forming method and the tightest bend radius in the part.
- Confirm the tensile band your tooling was set for; a narrower band can be agreed on request.
- Choose the surface: bright drawn for visible parts, soap-coated for die lubrication.
- Note any welding step, since 304 and 316L behave differently at the joint.
- Provide sizes and annual volume for a tolerance and packing review.
