Bright Annealed 1.2mm 669 Stainless Wire for Visible Parts
Bright annealing is the step that decides whether a stainless wire part can be sold without polishing. The wire is annealed in a controlled reducing atmosphere straight after drawing, so no oxide scale forms and the surface stays metallic instead of turning grey. For visible parts, that removes a pickling and buffing operation from the production line.
This 669 grade wire is supplied bright annealed and soft at 550-750 N/mm2, with a featured diameter of 1.2 mm inside a 0.15-12 mm range. Soap coating is available where the wire runs through guides or dies.
Typical use is visible wire parts, decorative mesh, display hardware and general forming where surface appearance and bendability both matter.

Applications
Visible wire parts
Baskets, hooks, display racks and shelf components where the surface is seen and should not need polishing after forming.
Decorative and architectural mesh
Woven panels and screens where an even metallic tone across the roll matters more than a mirror finish.
General forming and fabrication
Bending, coiling and light welding. The soft annealed temper keeps the bend radius workable without pre-annealing at the fabricator.
Product Advantages
- Scale-free surface from bright annealing - the reducing atmosphere removes the oxide that would otherwise need pickling, so no acid handling is added downstream.
- Even tone along the coil - annealing atmosphere and dew point are monitored through the run, which is what keeps colour consistent from start to end of coil.
- Soft temper for forming - 550-750 N/mm2 with elongation checked per heat, so bending and coiling stay predictable.
- Diameter range in one place - 0.15-12 mm from a single line, so mixed-size orders share one tensile and surface basis.
- Surface option per process - plain bright for visible parts, soap-coated where the wire passes through guides.
- Corrosion scope stated honestly - austenitic stainless for indoor and general industrial service; chloride-rich or marine conditions need 316L.
Quality Control
Rod is checked for grade and surface before drawing. Diameter is measured inline and sampled at the coil ends, tensile and elongation are tested per heat per ISO 6892-1, and the bright annealed surface is inspected under standard light for tone and defects. Coil build and packing are checked before the pallet is closed.
Selection and Ordering Notes
- State whether the part is visible or hidden; visible parts are ordered plain bright, hidden parts can use soap coating.
- Give the minimum bend radius and the forming method.
- Confirm whether the part is welded, since welding can change the surface tone locally.
- Specify coil weight and inner diameter for your pay-off.
- Provide sizes and annual volume for a tolerance and packing review.
Send the grade, diameter, surface requirement and forming process for technical confirmation and quotation.
