1.8mm SUS304 Annealed Stainless Steel Wire for Braiding and Weaving
On a braiding machine every carrier feeds at the same speed. If one spool runs a slightly heavier gauge, the braid angle changes and the hose cover shows a bulge. Diameter consistency, not tensile alone, decides whether a 1.8mm SUS304 wire runs clean through a full shift.
The wire is drawn from AISI 304 rod, annealed to 550-750 N/mm2, and supplied bright annealed, bright drawn, or soap-coated between 0.15 mm and 12 mm. Elongation is measured per heat and printed on the inspection report rather than quoted as a single fixed value.
Typical use is braided hose reinforcement, woven mesh, filter cloth, cable shielding and flexible conduit, where the wire has to bend around small sheaves without cracking.

Applications
Braided hose reinforcement
Carrier spools for hydraulic and industrial hose braiding. A narrow diameter band keeps braid coverage and angle stable from spool to spool, which is what controls burst strength consistency.
Woven mesh and filter cloth
Warp and weft in 0.15-2 mm where consistent diameter keeps aperture size uniform across the roll.
Cable shielding and flexible conduit
Fine sizes braided around cable cores, where a soft annealed temper follows the bend radius of the assembly.
Product Advantages
- Spool-to-spool consistency - diameter gauged inline and rewinding tension controlled, so carrier tension stays where the operator set it.
- Annealed for small sheaves - 550-750 N/mm2 soft temper with elongation verified per heat, reducing cracking at tight bend radii.
- Spool supply built for braiding - 5-25 kg spools with a stable inner bore, layer wound to avoid trapping.
- Surface per process - bright annealed for visible braid, soap-coated to reduce guide and needle wear.
- Corrosion scope stated honestly - 304 for indoor and general industrial service; chlorides or marine exposure need 316L, quoted separately.
- Traceable lots - heat number on each spool label with mill test report 3.1 on request.
Quality Control
Rod grade is verified before drawing, diameter is measured inline with end-of-coil sampling, and tensile and elongation are tested per heat per ISO 6892-1. Spool build, layer alignment, surface condition and packing are checked before dispatch.
Selection and Ordering Notes
- Give the braiding machine carrier count and the spool weight it accepts.
- State the target braid coverage or mesh aperture, so the diameter band can be agreed first.
- Choose the surface: bright annealed for visible braid, soap-coated where the wire runs through guides.
- Confirm any downstream step such as welding, crimping or polishing.
- Provide sizes and annual volume for a tolerance and packing review.
